The Thursday immediately following the Rogation Days is observed as Ascension Day, a major festival of the church for which ample material is provided in the hymnals under the seasonal heading.

On the Sunday after Ascension Day, the same theme is continued - in fact, many churches which cannot muster congregations for week-day services have their principal Ascension-tide celebrations on this Sunday following the festival. In the American church, the collect for Ascension Day (which is used throughout the octave) follows the collect for the Sunday.
